Plum Smugglers is a xc trail that links Lower Powersmart with Word of Mouth and has been used in Gear Jammer and JABR races. Shortly after the entrance off the logging road, there is a tight uphill switchback followed by a ladder bridge. The challenging uphill sections don’t end there: After the trail crosses the logging road near the half-way point, there are tighter uphill switchbacks, small punchy roots and rocks, and a tricky part where you’ll have to maneuver a slippery root with minimal clearance of the handlebars. On the short descents, there are a few short rock rolls. The first one has an optional route to the left, and is a gentle-sloping smooth roll with no surprises. The final roll has a sharp right-turn at the bottom but very manageable.
To access Plum Smugglers, follow the logging road ahead for a few hundred metres from the bottom of Lower Powersmart. There are posted signs for Plum Smugglers along here – keep right at the fork and you will see the entrance ahead on the right. The bottom of Plum Smugglers flows directly into Word of Mouth just before the long wooden bridge. This route bypasses the more advanced upper section of Word of Mouth.
