4 Lakes Trail

Fully confined within Alice Lake Provincial Park, the 4 Lakes Trail offers riders a laid-back cross-country feel without the hazards common to other bike trials in the surrounding area. The trail connects Alice Lake, Edith Lake, Fawn Lake, and Stump Lake. The majority of the loop is closed to biking during the summer (with the exception between Edith Lake and Fawn Lake), as large numbers of hikers populate the trails, especially near Alice Lake, during this time. The section of trail connecting Alice Lake and Edith Lake is permanently closed to biking, and 50 Shades of Green can be used to connect Alice Lake with Edith Lake (1-way/ascending only), although this climb will certainly get your heart racing. Alternate routes here include Jacks Trail or the gravel road between the top end of Alice Lake Road and the 4 Lakes Trail near Fawn Lake.

The 4 Lakes Trail can be ridden in either direction. The best access is from Alice Lake campground. From here, you have a couple options for your route. You can either head towards Stump Lake and ride the loop in a clockwise direction. This route requires some moderate uphill pedaling near the Cheekye River, with the remaining uphill sections manageable for beginner bikers. You’ll want to park your bike and take a break at the Cheekye River to catch a glimpse of the Tantalus Range. You’ll have to ride down one of the many trails of the Garibaldi Highlands, such as Rollercoaster and Lumberjacks, to reach the long, slow climb of Jacks Trail that will lead you directly back to Alice Lake. Another option from Alice Lake is to follow up 50 Shades of Green (or the gravel road from the top of Alice Lake Rd) towards Edith Lake and follow the loop in the counter-clockwise direction. Once reaching the top of the climb, the remainder of the loop is very relaxed.

Another option is to park at the end of Perth Drive and follow the gravel road uphill and continue along Mashiter, then take Tracks from Hell to reach the 4 Lakes Trail at Edith Lake. You can then follow the loop counter-clockwise, but will require some uphill from the bottom of Jacks to return to Perth Dr. The alternative route when starting from Perth Dr. is to ride down Lumberjacks, head up Jacks, following the loop in a clockwise direction, and taking one of the Garibaldi Highlands trails to return to Perth Dr. Rollercoaster will spit you out at the dead end of Perth Dr.
